If you read the ingredients on our labels, you'll find jojoba oil listed prominently. It's widely used in the cosmetics industry for products such as moisturizers, cleansers, baby products, and much more. Here's some interesting facts about jojoba oil!

It looks like jojoba, sounds like ho-ho-ba! This is a
star ingredient in many skin-care products. Jojoba oil comes from a shrub, mainly the crushed seed of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinenis) which is indigenous to the Sonoran Desert in northwest Mexico and southern parts of Arizona and California.

The jojoba seed, also called a bean or a nut, is the size of a small olive. When it dries out, it is harvested and its oil is extracted. In fact, about half of the weight of the seed is oil. This oil has some unique properties that makes it so effective for skin care! Here's why jojoba oil is so distinctive.

Why Jojoba Oil?
  • The structure of the jojoba molecule is very similar to our body's own sebum. Sebum is naturally secreted by our sebaceous glands to lubricate and protect our skin and hair. This means that our skin will readily absorb jojoba oil and it's naturally suited to moisturize and repair our skin and hair.
  • It's widely used in cosmetics because it's an effective moisturizer, softener, and cleanser for the skin and hair.
  • It's known to soften skin, reduce wrinkles and stretch marks, lighten and help heal scars, and stimulate collagen synthesis
  • Age and environmental stresses can cause a reduction in our sebum production -- Jojoba oil can offset that.
  • Jojoba oil conditions hair and promotes a healthy scalp
  • It's actually a polyunsaturated wax that is in liquid form, not technically an oil, although it's commonly called an oil. Because it is a wax, it protects the skin and provides moisture control.
  • It can potentially be used to help with acne, psoriasis, cold sores, sunburn, and chapped skin.
  • Jojoba oil is nontoxic, noncomedogenic (does not clog pores), and hypoallergenic.
  • It does not become rancid or oxidize, so it has a great shelf life.
  • It contains beneficial ingredients, including vitamin E, vitamin B complex, copper, zinc, iodine, and fatty acids.
