The Lynd Market on Morse opens on Thursday, April 21, 10am-5pm. Lynds hosts our largest retail display, and there's always lots to discover. Shop for farm-fresh produce, delicious snacks, home decor and creative gift ideas. ​

​This little spot in Alexandria is filled with so much love and life, and we are thrilled to share a small part in that. If you are a customer of Betsy's, you know what I'm talking about! She graciously offered to carry some of our products in her salon. Betsy named her shop Remedies, as a nod to when this building was a doctor's office. Check out the picture below from 1902, which she has displayed in her salon.

f you haven't seen the inside, you're in for a treat. This adorable salon incorporates so many historic and classic pics, tastefully displayed with lots of local love.
The salon is open when Betsy has appointments, within the hours of 8am and 2pm on weekdays (mornings only on Saturdays) She is always closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. If you are planning a special trip, be sure to call 740-924-HAIR to verify that someone will be there, since there are no regular hours. Remedies is at 27 W. Main St, Alexandria. We appreciate her willingness to support our business!

This cold, dry air does a number on our skin and our hair. We know we need to give it some tender loving care. However if you are anything like me, at the end of the day you don't have the energy for a multi-step evening routine. This is where our Organic Pure Argan Oil comes to the rescue! This one product easily does three things for us!

1. Facial Moisturizer.  Argan Oil (also known as Moroccan Oil) is a powerful facial moisturizer, in part because of its high Vitamin E and fatty acid content. It's great for the face because it is non-comedogenic, which means in won't clog your pores. It can increase the skin's elasticity for a more youthful appearance and healthy glow. Containing antioxidants, and anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, it's an excellent choice for soothing dry or irritated skin.
2. Makeup Remover. While I'm moisturizing my face, the oil is also gently removing residual makeup. It's a win-win and a great time saver!
3. Hair Treatment. Our hair can get especially dry in the winter months. Argan oil is considered a dry oil. This means you can apply it to your hair without making your hair look greasy. It reduces dryness, breakage, and split ends -- a small amount goes a long way. I rub a few drops of argan oil between my hands and then lightly apply the oil to the ends of my hair by rubbing my hands through my hair ends. When I apply argan oil to my hair in the evening, it has all night to absorb the oil for healthier-looking hair in the morning. This is so good for the hair that I will often reapply a small amount to my hair in the morning as I am styling it. This can also help tame flyaways.

One product, so effective, and so fast to do. This is why I call it stupid-easy! It's a no-brainer for the end of the day. Give pure argan oil a try, We recommend the 2 ounce bottle if you want to apply drops of oil to your hair. The smaller roll-on bottle is great for applying directly to the face. If you are applying it close to your eyes, we recommend the fragrance- free argan oil with no added essential oils. Give it a try and let us know what you think! ​This is a picture of Ben (the creator of Martha's Bath and Body) from elementary school. What I found so interesting was all of the "scrubbing bubbles" he put on it. When I asked him about it, he remembered being fascinated by those scrubbing bubbles and he loved them so much. Fast forward to today, when he started and runs a soap company! Foreshadowing, perhaps? If you look closely, you'll also see Popeye and some Thanksgiving turkey. And if you look REALLY closely, you'll see a picture of a box of butter, strategically edited by a 9 year old boy for maximum hilarity. And, yes, that 40-something year old today still thinks it's hilarious! 
Speaking of ornaments, here's a pic of how we store our ornaments. So many of these ornaments were handed down to us, and we really enjoy rediscovering them each time we decorate the tree. Using this system, we can store a ton of ornaments (many of them fragile) in one large tote. We've found this is much easier than the ornament boxes with all the separate compartments. We attached a piece of narrow satin ribbon to each ornament that needs it, so we never have to mess with ornament hooks! Ben's mom gave us that tip years ago, and it still works like a charm!

You can still get all kinds of goodies from local farmers and vendors after the outdoor season ends. This year the indoor market will be at the Annex next to the United Church of Granville again, on the southwest corner of West Broadway and Main. It will be most Saturdays from 9:30 to noon from November through the first Saturday in February. In addition to shopping for fresh produce, we love shopping for Christmas gifts at the indoor market too.
